Murals & Moldings: Adrienne Crombie & Don Dalen
Our Story
Adrienne’s first residential mural project, in 1991, was to paint a beach landscape on a 20 foot patio wall in Vero Beach, Florida. Prior to that, her canvases never exceeded 3 feet. It was so successful and so much fun to paint, she never looked back. Her freelance work as a decorative painter in NYC in the 90′s included Flowers Restaurant, The Java Shop and the Comfort Diner. Adrienne headed a team of artists that gilded the interior of Caesar’s “Glory of Rome” Casino boat for Modeworks, Inc. In 1998, her work was shown on HGTV’s “Our Place” as she demonstrated a trompe l’oeil painting technique. Adrienne and her partner, Don Dalen, met in 2002 and discovered that they shared a passion for making things beautiful and for doing it right. Together, they formed Murals & Moldings LLC in 2003.
Don Dalen was educated at the School of Visual Arts in NYC and studied Media Arts at the University of Arizona. He has plied his craft in prop design and construction and scenic painting for the Arizona Theatre Company, Design Definitions and Ambience in Tucson, AZ. and on the set of the ABC TV pilot, “Legends”. He has 25 years of experience as a musician, fine woodworker and painter.
Don’s background in film and set design combined with Adrienne’s classical training as a mural painter make an awesome partnership. They are excited and happy to share their ever expanding body of work as they continue to take on new projects and challenges.
Currently, Adrienne & Don make their home in Frenchtown, NJ, where Adrienne has painted two public murals; The Secret Garden on Harrison Street and The Milford Mural on the post office building in Milford. The Lenape Mural Project in Frenchtown, scheduled for completion in Spring 2012, is Don and Adrienne’s first public mural painted together.
